Real Madrid could have moved within one point of FC Barcelona. But Getafe FC had something against that.
Real Madrid lost its home game on matchday 26 of La Liga 0-1 (0-1) against Getafe FC. Getafe’s Martin Satriano (39′) scored the goal of the day shortly before half-time. The defeat increases FC Barcelona’s lead at the top of the table over Real Madrid to four points.
At the start of the game, Real Madrid was the better team, but their opponents scored. Martín Satriano (39th) shocked Real with a fantastic volley from 17 meters. The Royals previously missed the best opportunities through Vinicius Junior (13th) and Arda Güler (24th). In the second round, the second-place team hardly managed to pose a threat against the midfield team from the small town just outside Madrid.
In the final offensive, national player Antonio Rüdiger headed just wide after a corner (75′), and Rodrygo was also just centimeters away (79′). In stoppage time, Franco Mastantuono (90+5) was shown a red card, then Getafe professional Liso (90+7) also had to leave the field with a yellow-red card.
Mbappé was in his native France on Monday to undergo further examinations on his knee, which has been causing problems for a long time. No surgery is planned for the time being; the injury, which Real described as a “knee sprain”, should be treated conservatively. It is unclear whether the 27-year-old Mbappé can play for Real in the round of 16 of the premier class against Manchester City (March 11th and 17th).
