Real estate company Novo Holding of businessman Dominique Janne files a complaint against PS politician Elio Di Rupo for conflict of interest and corruption.

The case surrounding Erik Van der Paal’s Antwerp real estate developer Land Invest has been in the French-speaking press for several weeks. Di Rupo is said to have put pressure in 2017 to sell the shares of the Liège pension fund Ogeo in Land Invest to Triple Living.

Van der Paal is said to have paid to ensure that the shares went to that company of developer Dirk Cavens. However, Brussels businessman Dominique Janne was also interested in the 50 percent stake.

Recorded telephone conversations

At the end of last month, the newspaper ‘Sudpresse’ was able to obtain a number of recorded telephone conversations from Luc Joris, who served on various boards of directors for the PS. He is said to have received the money from Land Invest and then used his influence within the party and with Di Rupo.

Novo Holding and Dominique Janne are now filing a complaint. The businessman says he was able to listen to the telephone conversations and this clearly shows that the sale was forced. He feels disadvantaged by this.
