Real continues its successful streak thanks to old master Modric

League leaders Real Madrid secured a narrow victory in the Spanish football league title race.

The record champions won 1-0 (0-0) against FC Sevilla led by Real icon Sergio Ramos thanks to a stroke of genius from joker Luka Modric.

Thanks to the win, the lead over arch-rivals FC Barcelona is now eight points; FC Girona could move back up to six points with a win on Monday.

With national team returnee Toni Kroos and international player Antonio Rüdiger in the starting line-up, Real were clearly the better team. The supposed opening goal by Lucas Vazquez (10th) was revoked by VAR due to a previous foul.

A shot from Modric, who had recently been substituted, from just behind the edge of the penalty area (81′) decided the game.
