Ready – to – eat food 2022

Pepper listed the most interesting novelties on ready-made food shelves.

The range of ready-to-eat foods has expanded significantly in stores during the Korona period alone. Today, there are flavors from different parts of the world, and the spiciness is no longer compromised.

According to a survey commissioned by Saarioinen, as many as 87 per cent of Finns eat ready-to-eat meals at least once a month, compared to 68 per cent in 2018.

– The growth of the ready-to-eat food market is supported by many factors, such as urbanization, an aging population and strong growth in one- and two-person economies. The prolonged corona situation has also increased the use of ready-to-eat food, says Saarioinen, Consumer Experience Director Tia Yrjölä.

Almost half of the respondents to Saarioinen’s consumer survey felt that eating at home has increased and that they do not have time to prepare all their food themselves.

– Ready-to-eat food is eaten all over Finland, but families with children and single and double households are highlighted as the largest consumer groups. Many people use ready-made food because it is convenient and fast, Yrjölä says.

In Saarioinen, classic products have kept their surface as consumer favorites. The best-selling product is the Liver Box, which sells about nine million boxes a year.

– This is a real classic, made in Sahalahti by an economics teacher Mertta Järvisen with the original recipe.

Recently, the ready-to-eat food shelves have seen a wealth of new products, and the names of top chefs flicker on the lids of many packages.

Saarioisten Sikke Sumarin According to Yrjölä, the Italia on a plate series developed with the company has brought more new consumers to ready-to-eat food shelves, especially for single and double households. The series has been in stores for a year.

– Perch rolls and spinach risotto have been one of the hit products in the series.

In January, Sumari’s product line was supplemented with risottos.

K-stores, on the other hand, have a top chef Pekka Terävä Olo Creative Kitchen series, where you can enjoy pumpkin soup and Finnish “lasagna”.

K-stores also have a Jim Lim by Farang series, which contains ready-made chicken and curry pig meals in addition to semi-finished products.

Wicked Kitchen’s vegan ready meals arrived in Finland at the S Group’s stores in January.
