Since January 2, there has been a lot of gritting on the Drenthe N-roads. A total of 16 spreading actions were carried out, amounting to approximately 640,000 kilos of salt, a spokesperson for the Province of Drenthe said.

The current salt stock currently amounts to approximately 1.2 million kilos. That stock is being actively replenished today and in the coming days, so that the gritting services can continue to work. The salt depots for the provincial roads are located in Assen, Rogat and Schoonebeek.

Winter weather is expected again in the coming days. A lot of snow can fall, especially on Wednesday and Friday. It is difficult to predict exactly how much should be spread, but the province spreads as much as necessary. There are sufficient personnel, equipment and salt available and the gritting services are continuously available.

One complete gritting operation for all provincial roads and cycle paths uses an average of 40,000 kilos of salt. If continuous driving is required, a maximum of six spreading actions can be carried out per day.

That actually happens: from Sunday afternoon to yesterday afternoon, we worked non-stop in shifts to keep the roads as safe as possible.
