Trainer Francesco Farioli was proud of the players of Ajax after the won away match against Union Sint-Gillis (0-2) in the intermediate round of the Europa League. “It was not easy to perform well on such a field,” he said. “But I want to give all my players a big compliment.”
The 16-year-old Jorthy Mokio was the most striking player of Ajax in the King Baudouin Stadium. The Belgian made the second goal and can now call himself the youngest goal scorer of Ajax in a European game. “I know how good he can play football,” Farioli said. “But now he also has to stay on the ground with both feet.”
Next week is the return in the Johan Cruijff Arena. Farioli also gave a warning: “We are not there yet.”
