Past: FC Utrecht – Ajax 2-1
Past: AZ – PSV 1-5
We conclude the live blog for today. Now watch the reactions of Maarten Martens and Kasper Boogaard after the loss against PSV. Have a nice evening and see you next time.
AZ captain Sven Mijnans resigned on Sunday in the big home defeat against PSV: 1-5. “It was a bit like the big boys against the little boys today. We were defeated in many moments. The goals were scored after childish defending. We lost balls quickly, making them deadly in transition,” the midfielder said at ESPN.
PSV already led 3-0 after half an hour. Goalkeeper Owusu-Oduro made a mistake with the first goal. Mijnans did not immediately blame him. “You give away the entire match because you concede three quick goals. It is distressing that we were able to join in today and that we are not all there. We have to blame ourselves for that.”
The match between AZ and PSV has ended. The Alkmaarders lost hard numbers in a one-sided match: 1-5.
AZ also conceded PSV’s fifth goal. Guus Til spreads some extra salt in the wounds with his third of the match. Two more minutes are added.
Wouter Goes and Isak Jensen are thanked for their services. Maxim Dekker and Wassim Bouziane make an appearance. It is his debut for the Alkmaar team for eighteen-year-old Bouziane.
Goalkeeper Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduro cannot continue and has to be replaced by Jeroen Zoet. For Zoet it is a reunion with his old team. Matej Sin also comes on for Weslley Patati.
It now seems to have been decided in Alkmaar. Joey Veerman blows AZ’s hopes to pieces after a mistake by Kasper Boogaard. It’s 1-4…
Goes hits the ball out of Ivan Perisic’s hands. The Croat then grabs him, after which the defender tries hard to break free. It leads to an upset, but not to his second yellow card.
It is certainly not as exciting as the first half after the break. Let’s hope for more entertainment in the remaining part.
Can AZ come back even more in the match against PSV? No substitutions on the side of the Alkmaarders. We’re at it again.
It is half time in Alkmaar after a goal-rich first half. AZ is 3-1 behind, but does not seem to have a chance against PSV. See you soon!
A beautiful attack from AZ. Troy Parrott lays the ball ready for Weslley Patati. The Brazilian doesn’t touch the ball at all from very close. What an opportunity.
The deficit becomes a little more bearable for AZ. Sven Mijnans, who was in the interest of PSV last summer, makes the 3-1.
Guus Til makes his second of the match and AZ is having a hard time. PSV leads 3-0 in Alkmaar. The defense of the Alkmaarders does not look good.
AZ is lucky that it won’t be an even more painful afternoon. Jerdy Schouten gives a deep pass to Dennis Man and the Romanian dribbles towards Owusu-Oduro. The goalkeeper can turn this time.
The ball is already in the net at AZ. The goal is initially disallowed, but VAR intervenes. Ismael Saibari finds Guus Til (on the edge of offside) and he hits the target.
Goalkeeper Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduro promptly hands in the ball and Mauro Junior scores the 0-1. What a bad start for AZ.
The ball rolls in Alkmaar. Can AZ achieve a result against PSV?
Trainer Paul Simonis has been fired from VfL Wolfsburg after just four months. This is usually reported by reliable media such as Sky. The former coach of Go Ahead Eagles is held responsible for the poor start to the season, in which Wolfsburg scored 8 points from ten matches.
Simonis is one of the trainers mentioned as John Heitinga’s successor. The way for him now seems clear.
The position at the top of the Premier League.
- Feyenoord 11 – 28 (+20)
- PSV 11 – 28 (+19)
- AZ 11 – 24 (+11)
- Ajax 12 – 20 (+5)
Due to the defeat, Ajax remains in fourth place with twenty points after twelve games. FC Groningen can take over that ranking, they will play against NEC later today. AZ can lead the team from Amsterdam, provided they get at least a point against PSV.
Ajax again suffers damage in Utrecht. The Amsterdam team lost 2-1 after goals from Matisse Didden and Sebastién Haller. Mika Godts scored the counter goal.
The ball comes from a corner at the feet of young Gerald Alders. His shot goes just wide. Ajax will lose this match.
Dolberg, Rayane Bounida and Raul Moro will still get playing time from Fred Grim. Kenneth Taylor, Mika Godts and Oliver Edvardsen leave.
At least three minutes will be added. Can Ajax still score?
Ajax continues to gamble on a hole in FC Utrecht’s defense. The home team’s minimal lead keeps things exciting.
A few minutes later, a cross from Davy Klaassen passes just in front of the goal. Utrecht is bending, but not yet cracking.
The Ajax goalkeeper asserts himself with a good save on a hard shot by Yoann Cathline. Ajax can therefore still hope for a point.
Pasveer is also important in the subsequent attack with a save on Miguel Rodriguez. Cathline shoots the rebound wide.
Anton Gaaei and Davy Klaassen make their appearance at Ajax. Oscar Gloukh and Lucas Rosa leave.
Just before that, Wout Weghorst goes to the ground after a foul by Nick Viergever. Referee Danny Makkelie waves it away and thinks that the striker lies down too easily.
Out of nowhere, Ajax makes it exciting again. Mika Godts delivers a devastating strike from outside the box and it is 2-1 in Utrecht.
The Amsterdam team created danger a few minutes later through Oscar Gloukh. His bet ends in the hands of Vasilios Barkas. At the other end, Miguel Rodriguez shoots into the side net. It certainly hasn’t been played yet.
It became 2-0 for FC Utrecht. Souffian El Karaouni’s free kick hits Sebastien Haller’s head and he heads home. it is already the second headed goal of the Domstedelingen against Ajax.
After a period with a lot of ball possession, Ajax ends up with Mika Godts. The Belgian produces a roller from just outside the box after a pass from Lucas Rosa.
Can Ajax still achieve something after the break? The second half started without any substitutions for the Amsterdam team.
The first half is over in the Galgenwaard. FC Utecht leads at halftime after Matisse Didden’s header.
On the other hand, the ball is now in the net. Souffian El Karaoni’s corner is headed into the goal by Matisse Didden. It’s 1-0 and not 0-1.
After interference from the VAR, Makkelie decides to disallow the goal. He judges that Rosa’s tackle is a foul. It still remains 0-0 in Utrecht. The Galgenwaard explodes and Weghorst is angry.
There is Ajax’s lead. Wout Weghorst powers the ball into the goal from a cross from Oscar Gloukh. It’s 1-0 for the Amsterdam team!
Referee Danny Makkelie is called aside by the VAR. Lucas Rosa’s tackle is a foul according to the video referee. Will the goal go ahead?
Josip Sutalo tries to score from a corner with a bicycle kick. His attempt goes high, leaving the score 0-0 in the Cathedral City.
A cross from Kenneth Taylor ends up at Wout Weghorst. He pushes the defender and then lays back on Oscar Gloukh. The Israeli’s shot goes wide, but the referee blows the whistle.
So far Ajax is waiting in the match and trying to strike at the right moments. FC Utrecht dictates the game and has been dangerous on a number of occasions.
Mika Godts gets a ball perfectly into the course of Kenneth Taylor. The attacker misses the goal face to face with Vasilios Barkas. Fortunately for Godts it is offside.
Utrecht shows itself a few times in Ajax’s half in the opening minutes, without success. The audience in Galgenwaard is fully behind it.
Can Ajax get a result after the dismissal of John Heitinga? We have started!
