Anish Giri has played a draw for the seventh time in a row on Tata Steel Chess. The Dutch former winner of the chess tournament in Wijk aan Zee shared the point with Pentala Harikrishna from India. Jorden van Foreest also came to a draw in the eighth round. The former winner did that against Leon Luke Mendonca from India. Max Warmerdam managed not to continue his victory over Arjun Erigaisi from India. He lost with white from title defender Wei Yi from China.

The party between classification leaders Dommaraju Gukesh and Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa from India also ended in a draw. Both grandmasters are at 5.5 points, just like the Uzbeek Noodirbek Abdoesattorov. He played a draw against Vladimir Fedosejev. Giri has 3.5 points. Van Foreest and Warmerdam have 3 points. The chess players have a day of rest on Monday.
