RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku explains curious balloon cheers

This greeting to the offspring was particularly important to Christopher Nkunku.

After his 1-0 goal against Shakhtar Donetsk, the French national soccer player from RB Leipzig took a red balloon out of his socks, blew it up and let himself be celebrated in front of the fan block with his arms outstretched to the side.

“It was for my son. He likes balloons,” said the 24-year-old.

The little one celebrates his third birthday in December, so his dad gave him a little present in advance.

It was Nkunku’s third goal in sixth premier class game of the season. In addition, the footballer of the year prepared the third goal by Dominik Szoboszlai in the 4-0 win.

“I’m very happy that we reached the next round. It wasn’t an easy game,” said Nkunku.

The offensive player is still under contract in Leipzig until 2026, but has long aroused the desires of top European clubs. Recently there have been rumors that Nkunku has agreed with Chelsea about a change next summer.

The player and RB Leipzig did not comment on this.
