Schäfer waves at RB

Is Ridle Baku (26) moving from VfL Wolfsburg to RB Leipzig? A report on Thursday that the Saxons wanted to bring in the winger as a replacement for the injured Benjamin Henrichs (27) was reported by the “Picture“-newspaper on Saturday financial details to follow. The price expectations are not very far apart. However, the question of the remedy for the wolves could also delay a decision. According to consistent reports, the Lower Saxony are trying to sign Andreas Skov Olsen (25) from FC Brugge.
Baku is only tied until the end of the season. An extension currently seems unlikely from the player’s perspective. The Wolves’ negotiating position is correspondingly poor if a transfer fee is to be paid for the four-time national player. The Mainz native has seen a fairly constant decline in market value in recent years. After a career high of 25 million euros in 2021, there were only a few phases in which Baku was able to maintain its valuation. In the last three years the value has fallen to 7 million euros. The Wolfsburg team is said to be demanding a transfer fee of 4 million euros.
It is said that the people of Leipzig want to pay a million and a half less. That doesn’t seem to be a big financial hurdle, especially since there is hardly anyone in charge at the Wolves who wants to let Baku go free of charge in order to be able to rely on him for the rest of the year. Coach Ralph Hasenhüttl is said to prefer the second option of staying until the end of the contract, while in view of Baku’s alleged rejection of an extension, the bosses would rather use the last chance for a million-dollar transfer.
Will Christiansen bring compatriot Skov Olsen to Wolfsburg?
Instead of Baku, Brügge’s Skov Olsen could now work on Wolfsburg’s right side. Both connections seem conclusive, both that from Baku to Leipzig, where ex-Wolfsburg Marcel Schäfer forms the squad, and that from Skov Olsen to VfL, where former Copenhagen director Peter Christiansen is at work. He is said to have his compatriot in his sights, as “Tipsbladet” in Denmark and “Kicker” report.

The necessary transfer fee is 15 million euros, which roughly corresponds to the market value of the 37-time national player. However, it seems doubtful that Bruges will let the regular player and eight-time goalscorer in the current Pro League season go for this price in the middle of the season. With a contract running until 2026, the Belgians don’t have much time pressure. In recent years, sales revenues in West Flanders have often been well above the 15 million mark (these were FC Brugge’s most expensive sales).
