Rayan von Blumengarten commented.
After intensive discussions on social media, Rayan, singer of the duo Blumengarten, commented in detail for the first time on the allegations made by his ex-partner. In a multi-part statement, he firmly rejects allegations of abuse and violence that are circulating and at the same time admits his own mistakes in the relationship.
TikTok video sparks debate
At the end of 2025, his ex-partner spoke about her previous relationship with the musician in a TikTok video. She describes him as, in her opinion, manipulative and reports that the relationship and his personality look very different in reality than in his songs. She did not give any specific details. The statements have not yet been independently verified, but quickly spread on social networks and sparked intense discussions around the band. The video has now been deleted.
Release of “Gut Enough” postponed
Shortly afterwards, the release of a musical project was stopped at short notice: The joint song “Gut Enug” by Kitschkrieg with Shirin David and Blumengarten was originally scheduled to be released on January 29, 2026. In an Instagram story, Kitschkrieg explained: “At the request of Blumengarten and after consultation with everyone involved, we have decided to postpone the release of “Gut Enough” until further notice. The boys want to focus on dealing with and dealing with a current issue in their band circle and we think that’s a good and right thing to do and support their decision. We had decided to show the whole process, this is part of the process. All good. The good news is that our album consists of 12 songs and videos and we’re just picking a new one for now.
“No force or violence at any time”
In his newly published statement, Rayan describes his relationship with his girlfriend at the time as being characterized by mutual emotional dependence. Both were 20 years old and were in vulnerable phases of life. Looking back, he classifies the dynamic as co-dependent.
He also believes that he was emotionally immature, communicated inadequately and did not take responsibility sufficiently. In doing so, he allegedly hurt his partner at the time – he takes responsibility for this and apologizes.
At the same time, he draws a clear line: In his opinion, there was “at no time coercion, violence, oppression or abuse” in the relationship. He firmly rejects such allegations and wants to emphasize that they were not part of his ex-partner’s statements. Read the entire statement here:
Debate about song lyrics and “Sun in August”
Another central point of criticism concerns Blumengarten’s music. Rayan’s ex-partner accused him of distorting their shared experiences in songs and exploiting their story for artistic purposes.
Rayan also contradicts the assumption that his texts are one-to-one autobiographical via Instagram story. His music works with metaphors and is fed by different impressions, conversations and artistic influences – according to him, conclusions about real people are fundamentally not possible.
The focus of the debate is supposedly the song “Sonne in August”. According to Rayan, his ex-partner told him privately that she recognized herself in the piece and felt retraumatized by it. This was probably surprising for him: the song deals with his own struggles with suicidal thoughts that took place long before the relationship. He never sent her the piece in advance; it had not been a topic of conversation before, according to Rayan’s statement.
News after publication
After the TikTok video, Rayans allegedly received several messages from her in which she said she would make more private information public if he did not comply with certain demands. This included, among other things, changing songs or no longer playing live.
He perceived this as a threat and felt under pressure. His offer for a personal conversation in a protected setting – including a neutral third person of his choice – was rejected. Ultimately, he decided on legal communication. According to him, the offer to talk still exists.
Open questions
Finally, Rayan emphasized via Instagram that many of the points raised concern complex and intimate dynamics that cannot be fully addressed publicly. He doesn’t want to reveal any details for the sake of sensationalism or violate the privacy of either side. At the same time, he thanked everyone who was willing to listen to his perspective.
How things will continue musically remains to be seen. A new date for “Gut Enough” has not yet been announced.
