At their first concert this year in Munich (Wednesday, June 7th), Rammstein refrained from performing the song “Pussy”, which is an integral part of their current set list – and thus also refrained from their “penis cannon”. This reports “Spiegel Online”. In the accompanying show, Till Lindemann rides that artificial, motorized limb from which foam squirts into the audience. The waiver should be a consequence of the allegations of abusive behavior with which the 60-year-old is confronted. Perhaps Lindemann no longer wants to publicly produce pictures that show him as a male aggressor. The penis cannon in action, here in New York 2022:
The Rammstein frontman has always been taciturn. But last night he said at the very end: “Munich, thank you for being here. Thank you for being with us.” A heartfelt farewell by his standards.
Even before the concert there were protests against the band. Around 60 people had called for a boycott of the performance in front of the stadium. The police did not report any major incidents, although there were said to have been a few angry Rammstein fans who would have liked to attack the demonstrators.
According to setlist.fm, Rammstein performed the song “Ohne Dich” “as a full band version” for the first time since 2019. This change in the set could also be a reaction to the expressions of solidarity from their fans – according to reports, supporters of the band had planned to play “Ohne You” to kneel down and to smash back a “Ohne Euch” to the musicians.
