Pop the champagne! On December 31, the whole of Zoetermeer counts down to midnight and thus the start of 2025. To fully enjoy the New Year, a dry, windless and cloudless evening is nice. Berend van Straaten from Weeronline looks ahead: “There is still a small hope that we will keep it calmer and drier.”

To start with the good news: according to Berend it probably won’t be cold. The reason for this is less rosy. “Due to a combination of a lot of wind and quite a bit of cloud, it hardly cools down,” says the meteorologist. The temperature will be 4 to 8 degrees.
Wet New Year’s Eve
December 31 will probably start dry. Precipitation will occur during the day and in the evening it will rain in more and more places. There is also a strong wind. According to Berend, whether it will actually be a wet New Year depends on the course and timing of the precipitation area. “So there is still a small hope that we will keep it calmer and drier.”
Beginning of 2025
Berend is also looking ahead to the first days of the new year. “There is hope for winter lovers. It is certainly not yet convincing, but there are signals that we may be faced with winter troubles.” Get the sled ready!
