The hockey legend heads to Slovakia for coaching.

Raimo Helminen has been appointed head coach of Slovakian HC 05 Banska Bystrika. The club announced the appointment of its new Finnish coach on its website.
Helminen replaces the former Leijonat coach in the position by Doug Shedden.
Helminen takes over the duties of the head coach immediately. The team is currently eighth in the Slovakian league.
– I want to bring new energy and a positive atmosphere to the team. That’s what it needs. I believe that by working hard, the team will move up in the standings, says Helminen in the press release.
Ilves’ club legend has most recently been the head coach of HC Pustertal in Italy. Last season, he worked as Ilves’ assistant coach. The head coach’s experience can also be found in TPS and the Finnish under-20 national team.
