Koovee from Tampere toldthat the club’s significant orientation influencer Raimo Arvola has died at the age of 56.
Arvola was responsible for youth coaching in Koovee and developed the club’s top orientation. Among other things, Koovee won the Jukola relay in 2016 and 2018.
– In 2003, the club’s strategy was written, that the goal is to reach the top by 2010. For men, it took time and sometimes there were setbacks, Arvola told Iltalehti in an interview in 2019.
Arvola drowned on Monday evening in his own cabin in a kayaking accident.
On Sunday, he had participated in Jukola’s relay in Porvoo, where he was the opener of Koovee’s vitos team. After this, he moved to the maintenance duties of the first team.
Arvola also had a successful career in working life. Among other things, he was one of the owners of the technology company Solita. In 2013, he sold his holdings.
