The race started last Sunday in Darwin, a city in northern Australia. The finish in Adeleide was more than three thousand kilometers away. In between, the race went straight through the vast, barely inhabitable interior. Sounds cool to race in such a desolate area. According to Demkes it was also special. “But at a certain point it’s also boring, because everything looks the same and it’s a fairly straight road,” she says. “But it is all very beautiful and unknown.”
