The singer was sung by fellow artists in last night’s broadcast, but also spoke candidly about her childhood. An exception has been made especially for Roxeanne. “It stems from homesickness. I have a very nasty form of homesickness. I actually got that when I was a kid. Rachel, for example, once dumped Roxeanne with a nudist family. “I’ve been to a family that were nude runners. I didn’t know that and then I’m suddenly naked with a father on the couch and that’s all normal. Then I kind of have to adapt to that as a child. There was no room to miss my parents. That’s where it started.”
The final blow came for Roxeanne when she was brutally abandoned by her mother after the death of André. “I think the biggest blow for me came when my father died and my mother decided to write a book and I didn’t have my mother with me for nine months.”
“Please come back!”
Rachel couldn’t resist the smell of a bestseller, and the kids had to get out the door again. “Just when you really need her to mourn. I also had a picture of my mother and father with me every night and cried to it every night: ‘Please come back.’”
“I just had a huge blow from that. That will damage someone for the rest of their life, because I am a grown woman, but it is very difficult for me to sleep alone. Then I get a stomachache and I don’t sleep and then I feel like shit. I just vowed never to feel that way again. Never again. I just don’t want that.”
‘Terrible Mother’
