What is the cause? Story boss Guido den Aantrekker, who maintains warm ties with Rachel, thinks Natasja Froger played a role. During the recordings of the SBS 6 program BN’ers in the Hospital, she handed out a subtle sneer to the then chain-smoking Rachel.
Rachel was placed in the oncology ward for the program. “I think the lung department is going to be tough for you, because I think you’re going to stop smoking after this,” Natasja sneered at the time.

Guido thinks that comment made Rachel think. “I think Natasja Froger played a part in that. Rachel and Natasja were together in the well-known SBS 6 program BN’ers in the Hospital. There they really had to deal with people who are seriously ill and of course that also had an impact on Rachel.”
He continues: “It may also have played a role that her mother Friedel died at the age of 63 from the effects of lung cancer, so I can imagine that within such a family Van Galen still thinks: we should have one. stop sometime. I think her sister Els is also participating.”
