It is a cliché among celebrities who do not dare to take a side in the Hazes family feud because Rachel Hazes still manages the musical legacy of the legendary André Hazes: saying that you hope that things will work out between both parties one day. But how realistic is that actually? Not at all, says Rachel herself in the latest one Story.

Rachel doesn’t want to

Rachel has no desire to normalize her relationship with her children. When asked whether things will ever be okay again with André Jr. and Roxeanne, she answers: “It will never be okay again. It really won’t. I don’t have the character for that, I’m very honest about that.”

She continues: “If they call me now and ask for my help, I will do it. But it will never be the same as it was. I say that out of self-protection, because I never want to feel this pain again. It’s easy to talk about it now, but my children have ripped my heart out of my body. That still makes me sad.”

Grandma Hazes

Doesn’t she think it’s insane that she’s consciously losing the chance to ever play Grandma Hazes again? She never sees her grandchildren. “That devastated me… I only saw him for the first nine months of Fender’s (son of Roxeanne, ed.) life. It really broke my heart, I felt devastated.”

She concludes: “But that is my children’s choice. As a mother and grandmother, I have to respect that, I cannot change that. I have never been able to build a bond with my grandchildren. I now accept that, because I no longer want to be sad about it every day…”
