Rabobank also stops negative interest rates for savers | NOW

Savers who still have to pay interest at Rabobank on their savings will no longer have to do so from 1 August. The bank is thus responding to the recent decision by the European Central Bank (ECB) to raise its interest rates.

Anyone who has more than a ton of savings at Rabobank now still pays interest on the part above 100,000 euros. The bank introduced this last year because it also had to pay interest itself if it wanted to store money at the ECB.

Now that the ECB announced on Thursday that it will no longer charge negative interest rates to banks, Rabobank will also stop this for its savers.

The bank previously announced that it would lower negative interest rates on August 1, but not that it would stop completely. So she does now. In doing so, the company joins competitors such as ABN AMRO and ING, which previously decided to stop the negative interest rate for savers. For the time being, they will only do this as of 1 October.
