Quickline uses ADVA’s 100G aggregation solution to roll out ultra-fast broadband connections in rural and remote communities

ADVA (FSE: ADV) announced today that Quickline has deployed the company’s FSP 150 aggregation solution to provide high-speed service to residential and commercial customers in hard-to-reach areas in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. The innovative new network uses 5G broadband technology and fiber optic connections right into the building (fiber-to-the-premises, FTTP) for the last mile. Combined with ADVA’s MEF 3.0-certified 100Gbps technology, this enables Quickline to rapidly expand the deployment of ultra-fast, high-availability broadband services to more remote locations in the region. ADVA’s compact edge solution is suitable for use outside of air-conditioned buildings and is easy to implement. It enables pre-activation testing and has high-precision synchronization capabilities that are essential for 5G services. ADVA’s partner, Nomios, played a key role in the deployment, planning and design of the new infrastructure, as well as project management, network management and ongoing support.

“Our mission is to bring gigabit-capable broadband to our customers in the UK’s most inaccessible rural areas. To achieve this, we have employed the most modern aggregation equipment and taken an innovative approach to last-mile customer connectivity. We’re leveraging the flexibility and power of ADVA’s FSP 150 to connect our 5G-based services to our premises, enabling us to bring blazing-fast broadband to more rural communities than ever before,” said Sean Royce, CEO of Quickline. “Working with trusted and proven partners like ADVA and Nomios, with their strong customer-centric ethos, was also important to us in making the decision.”

With support from the Building Digital UK programme, Quickline’s expanded network is helping to connect some of the UK’s most inaccessible places. The infrastructure, built on ADVA’s compact FSP 150-XG400 series, enables connections with data rates of 100Gbit/s in the national network and the distribution of high-precision phase and frequency synchronization required for 5G. For smaller hubs, Quickline has also deployed the FSP 150-XG100Pro series. Both solutions combine a variety of programmability and security features in a compact design. These products are suitable for use in the extended temperature range outside of air-conditioned rooms. In addition, thanks to Nomios’ 24/7 monitoring, potential errors can be proactively identified and resolved with minimal impact on end customers.

“We’re excited to support Quickline in their goal of bringing high-speed internet to people living and working in underserved areas. As more people work from home, it’s vital to close the digital divide and ensure that Families and businesses can benefit from the same high-quality services as those in the urban environment,” commented Hartmut Mueller-Leitloff, SVP of Sales, EMEA at ADVA. “Our ADVA FSP 150 family offers packet-switched transmission technology and is the perfect solution for Quickline’s expanding network. The solution was developed for the compact transmission, bundling and demarcation of 5G and MEF 3.0 CE services and ensures a fast and reliable fixed network – or wireless connectivity. We look forward to helping Quickline continue to grow with the support of us and our partner Nomios.”

“Today’s homes and businesses expect and depend on fast and reliable broadband connections. That’s why Quickline is using our expertise with ADVA’s Packet Edge technology to build a new high-speed network for homes and businesses. With the new network, we have a solid foundation for generated strategic growth as we are now able to scale services directly from the edge and extend reach to customers in remote areas. This has been achieved in a highly reliable, time and cost efficient manner,” said Richard Butcher, MD of UK&I at Nomios. “With our monitoring service, continuous network management, as well as our maintenance and training, Quickline is well prepared for the future. The cooperation between Nomios and ADVA has helped Quickline to combine their 5G technologies and the best access solutions and thus create a highly innovative and efficient network architecture that will meet current and future customer expectations in Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and beyond.”
