Ajax has conquered the lead in the Eredivisie. The team from Amsterdam won the top match against PSV 2-1 thanks to a goal by Noussair Mazraoui. It was claimed that the ball had crossed the sideline moments before, but the video referee approved the goal.

Ajax coach Erik ten Hag chose exactly the same names in the top match as in the match against FC Utrecht. That again meant Brian Brobbey in the striker for the team from Amsterdam. Both PSV and Ajax started the match cautiously. The only danger in the first fifteen minutes came from Joey Veerman who saw a long shot land right in the hands of goalkeeper Remko Pasveer.

Although Ajax had control over the match and most of the ball possession, it did not succeed in diving behind the last line of the Eindhoven team. The greatest danger for the team from Amsterdam came from the foot of Steven Berghuis.

Brobbey

The attacking midfielder saw his cross land on the crossbar after no one touched the ball. Ten minutes later, however, it was hit. Brobbey, who was about to be substituted due to physical complaints, headed home from a cross by Dusan Tadic: 0-1. Immediately after his goal, he left the field for Danilo.

The intentions of both teams were significantly more attacking after the break. The game went up and down. However, ten minutes after the break Jurriën Timber made a mistake in the build-up. He lost the ball to PSV, which came alongside in the ensuing attack via Mario Götze: 1-1. The home team gained confidence from the equalizer, after which an even battle ensued.

VAR

Ajax had opportunities via Berghuis and Gravenberch and fifteen minutes before the end they took a deserved lead. Mazraoui fired a fantastic ball into the top corner with his left leg from outside the box. An action by Daley Blind prior to the goal was debatable, but VAR ruled that the ball was not entirely over the sideline.
