Quentin Tarantino is working on his latest film, The Movie Critic, which is the title of the screenplay the filmmaker has written and is reportedly going to film himself this fall.

What is The Movie Critic about?

Details about the script are not yet known, but according to The Hollywood Reporter, internal sources explain that the film takes place in Los Angeles in the late 1970s and that a female protagonist is at the center of the story. It is conceivable that the story could revolve around Pauline Kael, who died in 2001 – one of the most influential film critics of all time. She was known for her razor-sharp analysis and undiplomatic candor. It’s entirely possible that Quentin Tarantino is portraying the film critic he adores. As early as this week, it could be decided which film studio will take on the film project. A favorite might be Sony; the company already has “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” expelled.

Quentin Tarantino wants to step down as a filmmaker

Quentin Tarantino communicated a long time agothat he wanted to retire as a filmmaker at the age of 60. So far he has successfully filmed nine of his stories and is now apparently planning his last work. In 2012 he told Playboy: “I want to stop at a certain point. Directors don’t get better as they get older. Usually the worst movies in their filmography are the last four at the end. I’m all about my filmography and one bad film ruins three good ones. I don’t want to have this bad, outdated comedy in my filmography, the film that makes people go, ‘Oh man, he lives 20 years in the past.’ It’s not nice when directors go out of style.” That doesn’t mean he wants to retire from showbiz entirely, though. For example, he could still imagine taking part in theater productions.
