Queen Elizabeth is the longest-lived ruler in the world

D.Queen Elizabeth, 96, has beaten many records, but this one in particular will please her: his long reign, just celebrated with a Platinum Jubileehas finally surpassed that of 70 years and 127 days of King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand who, who passed away in 2016, held the primacy of the longest-lived king.

If in May 2024 she will still sit on the throne of England, Elisabetta will exceed the 72 years and 110 days it takes her to beat, therefore, even the official primacy of Louis XIV, becoming the longest-lived sovereign in history. But some experts insist that this record has actually already broken it. Because the Sun King, despite having ascended the throne at the age of four, only began to rule at 13.

A record for the Platinum Jubilee year

The queen has reached the goal of 70 years of reign last February 6, the anniversary of his accession to the throne in 1952, following the sudden death of his father George VI. Elizabeth was just 25 years old and was in Africa with her husband Philip when she received the news of her, returning immediately to Buckingham Palace. Her Coronation took place a year later, on June 2, 1953.

Queen Elizabeth: one record after another

In September 2015 Elizabeth had already become the longest-lived queen in the history of the British monarchy, exceeding in length the reign of the great-great-grandmother Victoria. A title to which, she admitted herself, “she had never aspired”. She is also the oldest queen who has ever reigned, but in terms of record her reign does not stop there: she is also the woman with the longest reign in world history.
