Britain is preparing to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth’s reign, but the party itself has just received mourning news.

Namely, the queen got the word on Sunday that her favorite jockey, the real legend of the gallop races, Lester Piggott, is dead.

The news of 86-year-old Piggott’s departure has been confirmed by his son-in-law William Haggas.

– Unfortunately, we can confirm that Lester died peacefully in Switzerland this morning, he said on Sunday.

The 96-year-old queen, who loves horse racing, last reportedly met Piggott, who was described as silent, in 2019, when she unveiled this statue in honor of Epsom Derby.

The celebrations of Queen Elizabeth’s 70th reign will be kicked off this week.

The festivities begin on Thursday with the traditional Trooping the Color military parade.

Due to her impaired mobility, the Queen will not receive the “royal salute” that is part of the parade this year, i.e. the soldiers ’salute.

However, Queen Elizabeth hopes to be able to attend even part of the ceremony, which will kick off not only the birthday party but also the celebration of the Queen’s 70th anniversary this year.

This could possibly mean that the Queen would show up on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to watch the fighters fly over, which is normally part of the holiday program.
