Queen Elizabeth appeared in public for the first time since March | Royalty

Footage shows the Queen arriving at the site in a Range Rover. The Queen seemed in good spirits and was photographed smiling broadly as she spoke to several of the attendees from the passenger seat. Some of the photos also show the British queen walking around with her walking stick. Since the end of last year, she has been regularly seen with a walking stick.

The last time Elizabeth appeared in public was at the end of March, at the memorial service for Prince Philip. At the time, it was unclear whether Elizabeth would be present until just before the start of the service. According to the Australian royalty journalist Robert Jobson, the British queen would have used a wheelchair – which she would have used in private for some time – to get around. The queen herself presumably refuses to move in a wheelchair in public. “There have been talks about it, but she would never want to be seen in a wheelchair.”

The Queen no longer appears in public because of her health. She struggles with mobility problems, among other things, which means she had to miss the opening of the British Parliament. She was then replaced by her son Prince Charles. He then read the Speech from the Throne, a task traditionally assigned to the monarch. But as Elizabeth’s mobility worsens, she is more than ever delegating important responsibilities to her son and grandson, Prince William. The latter attended the Speech from the Throne for the first time in his royal career. “A very symbolic moment,” writes the British press. “We get a glimpse of the future.”
