During the qualification for the opening competition in Wisla, 22-year-old Philipp Raimund caused a surprise. The best jumper came from Poland.

World Cup start for the ski jumpers in Wisla, Poland: During the qualification for the jumping on Saturday (November 5th, from 4 p.m. in the live stream) a 22-year-old caused the surprise: Not Karl Geiger, not Markus Eisenbichler jumped into the top ranks – it was Philipp Raimund, who was fourth best DSV athlete in the qualification. The starter for SC Oberstdorf jumped 129 meters.

Pole Dawid Kubacki was in top form, winning the qualification with a jump of 133 meters. Second place went to Halvor Egner Granerud from Norway (128 m). Third place went to Kubacki’s compatriot Piotr Zyla (131 m). The jumping was held on green mats instead of artificial snow as usual.

Winter sports will also return to the sports show on Saturday. For the ski jumpers, the World Cup season begins in Wisla.

No other DSV eagle in the top 20

All of the other German jumpers qualified for Saturday, but none could achieve a top result. Karl Geiger was 23rd with 121 meters, one place behind was Pius Paschke (124.5 m), who beat Stephan Leyhe in internal training.

Constantin Schmid ended the qualification as 26th (121 m). For Markus Eisenbichler, winner of 2020 in Wisla, it was only enough for 37th place with his 117 meters. Andreas Wellinger, who showed good jumps in training, also only landed on 117 meters and was 38th

All DSV women qualified for the opening competition

Ema Klinec from Slovenia won the women’s qualification. The world champion took the lead with a jump of 128.5 meters in front of the Norwegian Silje Opseth (129.5 m) and her compatriot Nika Kriznar (127 m).

The ski jumping elite will meet in Wisla, Poland, for the start of the World Cup. The women are the first to dare to jump off the ski jump.
