According to the exit poll, the PVV will go from four seats back to three. According to party leader Alexander van Hattem, the BBB ‘succeeded better in expressing the dissatisfaction and achieving the result’.
With the imminent loss of Forum for Democracy, many people thought that the PVV would regain seats. That result is now disappointing for the PVV.
“Of course you had hoped for more. But the BBB has posted a huge result. All congratulations and compliments for that”, says Van Hattem.
‘Clear signal to coalition’
The result is a ‘very clear signal to the incumbent coalition’, says Van Hattem. “They came with a nitrogen lock. That is too absurd for words. Then you get that the voter says: this can’t go on like this, this just has to be different. We played a part in that too.”
According to Van Hattem, the nitrogen dossier is one of the most important points. “At the moment, this has become such a topical issue that the entire country has been locked down,” says Van Hattem.
He goes on to say that mass immigration is an important theme. “We are getting a forced asylum law, which the gentlemen in The Hague are working on. I hope that one day a different wind will blow in The Hague and the forced asylum law can be pushed aside.”
‘Keep going hard’
The party does not feel defeated. “We are still standing in the States and we will continue to work hard, to also make a different sound heard in the States,” says Van Hattem.
