Putin guarantees Bolsonaro supply fertilizer for Brazilian agriculture | Abroad

Bolsonaro said they had discussed “food security” and “energy insecurity”, without giving further details. The Kremlin said in a statement that during the phone call, Putin had “emphasized Russia’s determination to honor its commitments to ensure an uninterrupted supply of Russian fertilizers to Brazilian farmers.”

As a global agricultural power, Brazil imports more than 80 percent of its fertilizers. For potassium, this percentage rises to 96 percent, according to data from the Department of Agriculture. More than 20 percent of fertilizer imports come from Russia, Brazil’s main supplier.
