Russian President Vladimir Putin held telephone talks with his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, in the conversation the heads of state discussed the creation of a Russian industrial zone near the Suez Canal and the construction of Egypt’s first nuclear power plant El-Dabaa. Putin and al-Sisi also noted the similarity of the approaches of Moscow and Cairo regarding a political settlement in Libya and praised bilateral cooperation.
Egypt confirmed its intention to participate in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) in June 2022 as a guest. The presidents also agreed to closely contact in the future.

NPP “El Dabaa under construction in the area of the Egyptian city of El Alamein. It will include four power units. The general contractor for the construction of the power plant is Atomstroyexport JSC (a subsidiary of Rosatom).
