Only five days after the workers’ uprising in the GDR on June 17, 1953, the Berlin Senate decided to rename the Charlottenburger Chaussee to Straße des 17. Juni. It was not for nothing that Kennedy chose West Berlin for his great freedom speech on June 26, 1963. After all, after November 9, 1989, we Berliners stood together on the Wall.
