The Herzogenaurach-based sporting goods retailer has appointed Bertrand Blanc to the newly created role of Vice President Global Wholesale.
Blanc will take up his new position effective May 1, Puma announced on Wednesday. He reports directly to Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) Matthias Baeumer and will be responsible for the development and implementation of sales strategies. This is intended to make Puma more important among “important wholesale customers”.
“Our wholesale business is a critical part of our business,” Baeumer said. “With dedicated leadership for this channel, we can create a global center of excellence that supports our global markets.”
The new wholesale boss brings more than 25 years of experience in international leadership positions and has held senior positions in the areas of strategy, key account management, planning and operations in the sports industry, including at sportswear suppliers such as Asics and Nike. Most recently, he worked as Senior Global Commercial Director Racquet Sports at the US sporting goods manufacturer Wilson Sporting Goods and supported international companies as a consultant.
“I am confident that Bertrand is the right person to lead our teams and grow Puma’s business with strategically important wholesalers, both globally and in our largest markets,” continued Baeumer.
Blanc is the second executive appointed by Puma this week. On Monday, the company appointed Laurent Fricker as Vice President of the Sportstyle business unit.
