Puma has appointed Tara McRae into the role of the president of the North America business. MCrae takes on the position with immediate effect, the sporting goods giant said on Tuesday. MCRAE was most recently responsible for marketing and brand strategy of the region – a market that Puma classifies as “strategically particularly important”.
McRae had returned to Puma as early as 2024 to work as a senior Vice President for brand and strategy after leaving the company in 2016 after ten years. During her time outside of Puma, she was active as a Global Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Digital Officer at the British shoe provider Clarks and also acted as the first Chief Marketing Officer at TB12, the health brand of the former NFL player Tom Brady.
In her new role, McRae follows Bob Philion, who leaves the company after 20 years, including eight years as President of Puma North America. In an official statement, Matthias Bäumer, Chief Commercial Officer from Puma, thanked at Philion and paid tribute to his achievements in a phase in which Puma “was put back on the map in North America”.
Regarding McRa’s appointment, Bäumer explained: “With Tara we have gained a leadership person who understands our consumers, the industry and the North American market.
