The German sporting goods provider Puma SE and the Chinese foam producer Shincell New Materials Co. Ltd. want to develop new materials for running shoes together in the future. On Wednesday, Puma announced that the companies had agreed on a corresponding partnership.
As part of the collaboration, both companies would set up a joint laboratory in Suzhou, China, according to a statement. “The first products resulting from this partnership are expected to hit the market over the next few seasons,” Puma said.
The aim is, among other things, to further develop the successful Nitro sports shoe series. “With Nitro, we have the best running technology in the industry, and the agreement with Shincell allows us to maintain this lead,” Romain Girard, Puma’s vice president of innovation, said in a statement. “We aim to make the best even better in future product generations.”
Shincell CEO Xiulei Jiang praised the new partnership with the traditional German company. “This collaboration is a great example of the value of technology-led innovation in the global performance segment of sport,” he said.
