Ten years after their last reunion tour, Pulp are back on stage again. Frontman Jarvis Cocker had already announced the comeback in July, and now the legendary Britpop band has also announced dates for the tour: From May to July 2023, Pulp will play a total of ten concerts in Great Britain and Ireland.
On the “This is What We Do For an Encore Tour” Pulp play not only in their native Sheffield but also in London and at festivals in Glasgow and Suffolk. Tickets go on sale from Friday November 4th. “An encore happens when the crowd makes enough noise to get the band back on stage,” said Jarvis Cocker. “So… we’re playing in the UK and Ireland in 2023. Come with me and make some noise.”
Bassist Steve Mackey will not be part of the reunion, however. “Pulp is a very important part of my creative life… and I am immensely proud of the work we have created together,” he wrote in a statement. But he wants to concentrate on his own music, film and photography projects. “I wish Candy, Nick, Mark and Jarvis all the best in their upcoming performances,” Mackey wrote.
Pulp released their last album WE LOVE LIFE in 2001. The band returned in 2011 for a first comeback tour. Among other things, they played a surprise concert at Glastonbury and a headlining performance at Reading & Leeds. In 2013, the band’s last new song was released with the single “After You”.
