Public Prosecution Service demands nine years in prison against man (39) for sexual exploitation of girls

The Public Prosecution Service (OM) is demanding nine years in prison against a 39-year-old man from the municipality of Edam-Volendam because he may have incited two girls to prostitution. A man (51) from Hippolytushoef is also before the judge who may have been a ‘customer’ and a man from Amsterdam (39) who took the teenagers to their appointments as a driver.

The girls both came from a family with an unstable home situation when they met the 39-year-old man from Edam-Volendam, the Public Prosecution Service reports. Both girls also had psychological problems. One of the girls fell in love with the man and the two reportedly had a relationship.

One of the victims is also a suspect in the case. The Public Prosecution Service suspects her of having ‘informed’ the other girl and of accompanying her when she went to a sex appointment. She was sentenced to a prison sentence of 130 days, of which 120 were conditional.

The public prosecutor believes that the man has destroyed the lives of the two women (now 18 and 23): “Minors should not provide sexual services for payment. That is a blatant violation of their mental and physical integrity. The suspect has purely created a degrading situation for their own pleasure and gain. When it started they were still children,” said the officer.

The case came to light when the institution where one of the women was staying reported the victim’s name.

“This case shows how important it is that emergency services organizations that are aware of such cases report them to the police. Without this report, these suspects may never have been brought to justice,” the officer said.

The officer demands eight months’ imprisonment against the alleged driver, four of which are conditional, and six months’ imprisonment against the customer, three of which are conditional.
