Public Prosecution prosecutes key witness to swimming pool murder for perjury

The Public Prosecution Service will prosecute the key witness in the controversial swimming pool murder in Marum for perjury. This is reported by the Public Prosecution Service.

In December 2022, three members of the in-laws were sentenced to years in prison for having ordered the murder of Jan Elzinga in 2012. Willem P. was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2014 for carrying out the murder.

A few years later, this Willem P appointed Monique H. (43) from Hollandscheveld, her brother Marcel (40) from Nieuw-Roden and their 61-year-old mother Coby van der L. from Roden as the clients. He fed the Public Prosecution Service with, as it turned out, forged text messages. This was also apparent during the court hearing in December.

“This man (Willem P., ed.) defrauded the Public Prosecution Service with forged text messages, he defrauded the examining magistrate, he initially stayed away from this process because it got too hot under his feet and when he finally came to the surface, he lied flat out during the interrogation earlier this week,” said Wilko ten Have, the lawyer of Monique H. “This is a disgrace to the rule of law.”

Nevertheless, the three members of the in-laws were sentenced to twenty years in prison. During the hearing, key witness Willem P. admitted that he had not always spoken the truth.

The convicted in-laws are appealing.
