PSV will also rent defender Baumgartl to Union Berlin next season

PSV will also rent Timo Baumgartl to the German club Union Berlin next season. The 26-year-old defender was loaned to Germany’s number 5 for one season last year, but that agreement has been extended for another year, the German club has confirmed.

Union secured fifth place on the last match day of the Bundesliga and thus a place in the Europa League. At home, VfL Bochum was defeated 3-2.

Tumor removed
Baumgartl was not there during the last league game. At the beginning of this month a tumor was removed from the defender. “I am very grateful for the prompt, clear diagnosis and for the successful surgery that took place,” he said earlier this week.

“I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for the incredible support. I will never forget that. My focus is now on the fastest possible recovery.”

PSV took over Baumgartl from VfB Stuttgart in 2019. He then signed for five years in Eindhoven.
