PSV reached the semi-finals of the KNVB Cup without difficulty. SC Heerenveen was sent back to Friesland with a 4-1 defeat on Wednesday evening.
Sc Heerenveen had undoubtedly analyzed the match between PSV and Feyenoord and wanted to prevent early goals. By putting a lot of pressure and playing attacking football, they had a good chance after 4 minutes. Goalkeeper Matěj Kovář saved Jacob Trenskow’s shot.
The Frisians played with risk and courage, but it was the home team that opened the score. Mauro Junior broke through on the left in the 24th minute, serving Guus Til, after which the ball eventually ended up at the feet of the sliding Bajraktarević: 1-0. Just under 10 minutes later, the Bosnian international also shot the 2-0 against the ropes on a pass from Ismael Saibari.
At half-time, PSV coach Peter Bosz decided to replace Saibari and bring in Ryan Flamingo as a fresh starter. Jerdy Schouten, who was not allowed to complain in the first half with a yellow card after a nasty kick, moved from the defense to midfield. Sc Heerenveen continued to play good football at times, but lacked the quality to make it really difficult for the home team.
The game was already decided early in the second half. 37-year-old Ivan Perišić arrived at a corner higher than his direct opponent and headed in. The 3-0 did not mean that PSV was going to take it easy. A few minutes later, right back Sergiño Dest fooled the Frisian defense and it was Paul Wanner who gave the final push: 4-0.
Chance after chance
After that it was a big playground for PSV. It was given one chance after another. Wanner hit the crossbar, a ball was cleared off the line and Bajraktarević shot a penalty at the goalkeeper. Flamingo’s rebound was also grabbed by the Frisian goalkeeper.
Eindhoven’s chances were missed and out of nowhere it was the guests who were able to cheer fifteen minutes before the end. Kovar did not look strong after a move by Luca Oyen and had to make it 4-1.
Return Boadu
Not much happened in the Philips Stadium in the last fifteen minutes. The most notable was the return of striker Myron Boadu, who was out of action for months with a knee injury. With him, Bosz has another option at the forefront.
