“We should have won, so this hurts a bit,” Veerman said to RTL7 after the entertaining match. ,,We take a good result with us, but I still feel that we could have decided earlier. The feeling that prevails now is that we are going to get them next week.”

,,In the second part of the first half we had a hard time. But in the second half we had them under pressure and they didn’t know what to do at all, we have to build on that. The atmosphere was beautiful here, it just kind of hurts your ears when they’re all screaming. We want that in Eindhoven next week too.”

,,I think the game went up and down”, said captain Luuk de Jong. ,,I think they started better and after that we were better. We started well in the second half by putting pressure on Rangers. Then they score a goal. “Free kick and then we had to look for it to make it 2-2. Fortunately, we make it and we have a good starting position. We wanted to leave here with a win or a draw to finish it next week in Eindhoven.”

PSV coach Ruud van Nistelrooij cherished the result after the first game with Rangers. “This draw is well deserved. I thought it was a two-faced match. We started well, with that chance for Luuk de Jong. Then we lost control. We were under pressure on the build-up of Rangers and we had trouble getting into our game on the ball. We did better after the break. Then I thought we were the better team. We showed how we can play in the second half. I thought that was the best half of us this season.”

Van Bronckhorst thinks the result is ‘deserved’

Rangers FC trainer Giovanni van Bronckhorst believes that 2-2 was a fair result. ,,We conceded the equalizer at the end from a corner, so you are of course disappointed. But I’ve seen a nice and real fight. Then 2-2 is a deserved result,” said Van Bronckhorst to RTL7.

“There was very little difference between the two teams. All in all, this was just a really nice match,” said Van Bronckhorst. “The final will be next week. We will take this result with us to Eindhoven, then it will just have to happen there.”

The 106-time international, who has been the trainer of Rangers since the end of last year, spoke highly of the team of his friend Ruud van Nistelrooij. ,,PSV is very comfortable with the ball, with a good attacking point in the front and a threat from the sides. Their midfield is also really balanced. This was a very difficult game for us and it will be next week as well.”
