Nothing seems to stand in the way of Luuk de Jong’s arrival at PSV. The 31-year-old striker has now been medically examined by the club. More details of the deal will be announced at a later date.
Earlier in the day, Sevilla already reported the departure of the Dutch striker, but the message on the club’s website was removed after a few minutes. PSV then indicated that it found it ‘strange’ that the Spanish top club reported the transfer.
An hour later, the Eindhoven club still reports a transfer from Luuk de Jong. The arrival of Luuk de Jong is no longer a surprise. The club indicated several times that the striker was top priority. John de Jong (technical director), Ruud van Nistelrooij (trainer) and today Marcel Brands (general director) did this.
It is not yet clear for how long the attacker will sign. PSV will report details of the deal soon.
On Friday afternoon, general manager Marcel Brands said that movement had to be made from Seville if the two clubs were to reach an agreement. If there is no agreement in a week, PSV would switch to other candidates, but that does not seem necessary.
