PSV also brings Guus Til to Eindhoven: “Everything here radiates class”

PSV has strengthened the selection with Guus Til. The attacking midfielder was one of the pillars of Feyenoord’s European success last football season. As a mercenary, he was good for fifteen goals in the Eredivisie and six European goals. In Eindhoven he signs a contract for four years.

Til is already the sixth reinforcement for PSV for the new season, after goalkeepers Walter Benítez and Boy Waterman, right back Ki-Jana Hoever, Xavi Simons and attacker Luuk de Jong. By attracting Til, PSV is reinforcing its title aspirations, as well as its ambition to reach the lucrative Champions League again after years.

Til, who was also in the interest of PSV two years ago, comes from the Russian top club Spartak Moscow. With his arrival, PSV seems to be anticipating a departure from Ritsu Doan. The Japanese is in the interest of several clubs in Germany.

Til broke through at AZ six years ago and earned a transfer to Spartak in 2019 with his good game. That club then rented him out after a season in the Russian league to the German Freiburg and last year to Feyenoord. With his good game in Rotterdam, Til also earned an invitation to the Dutch national team, for the first time since 2018.

Feyenoord would have liked to keep the midfielder. The Belgian FC Antwerp, where former PSV coach Mark van Bommel is at the helm this season, was also interested in the midfielder. But PSV was able to trump both clubs.

‘Everything radiates class’
According to Til, the conversation he had with Ruud van Nistelrooij was decisive. “The trainer has expressed his confidence in me and told me about PSV’s ambitions. They convinced me. I want to win prizes here”, he says on the website of the club† “The picture that PSV painted for me is very attractive. A lot is possible here in sports. It also gives the stability I was looking for.”

Til calls PSV ‘an enormous club’. “Everything exudes class. I’m looking forward to working here.”
