PSV won with ease against FC Groningen on Saturday evening. After 90 minutes there was a 6-0 final score on the scoreboard. A special fact about the home team’s victory was that there were six different goalscorers.
After twelve minutes the highlight of the game could already be noted. That highlight was not visible on the field, but in the stands. A nice statement of support to the sick PSV spokesperson Thijs Slegers. He was encouraged with lights, applause and a banner.
After that it was important for PSV to build confidence towards the diptych with Sevilla for the Europa League. Important weeks are coming for the people of Eindhoven in which they will be fighting on three different fronts.
After half an hour it was Luuk de Jong who converted a cross from Xavi Simons. Soon in the second half it was the declarant who put the 2-0 on the scoreboard. A beautiful curl in the top corner ensured a carefree evening for the home team.

Jarrad Branthwaite shook up the Philips Stadium twenty minutes before time. His header went inside the post into the goal: 3-0. Just before that, FC Groningen surprisingly seemed to come back into the game. But due to a stupid schwalbe, a great opportunity was ruined. After the 3-0, PSV was loose and scored three more times. Johan Bakayoko, Fabio Silva and Guus Til determined the final score at 6-0
Thanks to the big win, PSV rises to a provisional third place. Next week, the team from Eindhoven will travel to Seville for the first match against the Spaniards.
