PSG superstar Mbappé draws level with Ibrahimovic

Superstar Kylian Mbappé has led the Paris St. Germain star ensemble to a must-win in Ligue 1.

The world champion scored twice in the 3-1 (1-1) victory over relegation contenders AS St. Étienne and closed the club’s all-time top scorer list with 156 competitive goals to the Swedish icon Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Both are now tied for second place behind Edinson Cavani (200 goals).

With the dreaded storm trio of Lionel Messi, Mbappé and Neymar in the starting eleven, the Parisians did not get off to a good start, Denis Bouanga (16th) shocked the hosts early on with the opening goal. Coach Mauricio Pochettino’s team, who replaced national player Thilo Kehrer at half-time, only got better into the game against the record champions after around 30 minutes.

Mbappé (42nd) scored a pass from Messi before the break to equalize, shortly after the break the Argentine played again for Mbappé (47th). Danilo Pereira (52nd) quickly cleared all doubts after the Parisians surprisingly lost in Nantes last week.

With a 16-point lead at the top of the table, PSG are still on course for the championship title.
