An additional 750,000 euros will be available for companies or projects that are looking for solutions to shortages on the electricity grid. The subsidy scheme was already in force, but will be increased due to its success, the provincial government has decided.
The largest part (550,000 euros) is intended for ‘concrete solutions’ to resolve obstacles on the network. The rest of the money, 200,000 euros, is intended for so-called feasibility studies.
Commissioners Henk Jumelet (Energy) and Willemien Meeuwissen (Economics) are happy with the increase in the scheme. “This allows us to provide space for existing and new feasibility studies and other solutions for grid congestion,” explains Henk Jumelet, Energy Commissioner. “Consider, for example, collective solutions between multiple companies, innovative storage technologies or more flexible use of energy. A feasibility study answers the question of which solution is most suitable. We want to support this with this scheme.”
Grid congestion hinders hundreds of companies and institutions that want to become more sustainable, expand or establish themselves here in Drenthe. Because of this obstacle, companies and institutions that request electricity end up on a waiting list.
