The ascent of the Biancoceleste goalkeeper continues: now in front of only Marchegiani, Orsi and Bandoni. And against Salernitana …
Eleven Serie A matches, five goals conceded. This data, the second best in Europe after Barcelona stopped at four goals, to certify the splendid metamorphosis of the defensive department of the Lazio. But there’s more: there are records and statistics that have the only protagonist Ivan Provedel. I’m eight seasonal clean sheets of the biancoceleste goalkeeper also counting the one in the Europa League. Seven were in Serie Aof which six consecutive. A streak, the one opened against Verona and continued against Cremonese, Spezia, Fiorentina, Udinese and Atalanta, which is already a record in itself.
Only twice did Lazio do better: the record belongs to Bearswhich in B series managed to keep the clean sheet in eight consecutive races against Perugia, Bari, Palermo, Lecce, Foggia, Pistoiese, Varese and Reggiana. Looking in A leaguehowever, only once did he do better than the current streak: it was the 1997/1998 season and he was on target Marchegiani. The current face of Sky did not concede a goal for seven consecutive races against Bari, Inter, Atalanta, Rome, Sampdoria, Piacenza and Udinese. And it is no coincidence that these two goalkeepers are two of the three currently ahead of Provedel in the best unbeaten streak ever in the biancoceleste jersey.
Without taking into account the recovery time, Provedel concluded the match against Atalanta a 569 ‘ placing itself at fourth place ever in the history of Lazio. Fourth place, however, which becomes the second if you only look at Serie A. The absolute record belongs to Marchegianistopped at 745 ‘ (1997/1998). Second place for Bearswhich in Serie B came to 733 ‘ (1982/1983). Always in Serie B Bandoni stopped at 581 ‘ (1971/1972). Only these four goalkeepers are ahead of Provedelfirm in fact to 569 ‘: 13 ‘will be enough to get on the usual podium. The top 10 is complete from Flowers to 540 ‘ in Serie A (1988/1989), Martina to 529 ‘ in Serie B (1987/1988), CEI to 516 ‘ in Serie B (1961/1962), Marigo to 483 ‘ in Serie B (1981/1982), Marchetti to 474 ‘ in Serie A (2014/2015) and Clean us to 468 ‘ in Serie A (1972/1973).
