July is the month that a large tent appears in the parking lot of department store chain Auchan in Roncq, just across the border with France. You get hefty discounts on a whole range of (soft) drinks and other daily products, which means that they sometimes cost half as much as with us. That’s why Promo hunters Belgium there this week are super tip for the readers of HLN.
The parking sale According to Gunther Devisch of Promojagers Belgium, it will run until Tuesday 5 July. “It is definitely worth it if you want to buy slightly larger volumes,” he says. “It is not far. From Kortrijk it is only a 15 kilometers drive via the E17. For those who can’t go now: around July 21 they will repeat the promotion .”
Devisch made a price comparison for several products and that speaks volumes.
† Coca Cola (bottles): 9.75 euros for 6 bottles of 1.75 liters (or 0.93 euros per litre). At Colruyt you normally pay 1.39 euros per litre, but now that is 1.11 euros per liter thanks to a 20% discount from 12 bottles.
† Coca Cola (cans): 9.30 euros for 18 + 2 cans (or 0.465 euros per can). At Colruyt this is 0.65 euros per can.
† Coca Cola Zero (cans): 8.76 euros for 20 cans (or 0.438 euros per can).
† Vittel (2 + 1): 5.04 euros for three packs (6 x 1.5 litres) or 0.19 euros per litre. At Colruyt you normally pay 0.72 euros per bottle, but that is now 0.67 euros from 24 pieces (or 0.44 euros per litre).
† bru: 33% direct discount on 6 x 1.25 liters (or 0.45 euros per litre). At Colruyt this is 0.81 euros per litre.
† perrier: 50% discount on the second pack of 6 x 1 liter (or 0.43 euros per liter). At Colruyt that is 0.79 euros per litre.
† Spa Reine (2+1): 8.76 euros for three packs (6 x 1.5 litres) or 0.32 euros per litre. At Colruyt you pay 0.45 euros per liter (there is currently a promotion where you get a 33.34% discount from 18 bottles of 1 liter).
† Contrex (2+1): 5.32 euros for three packs (6 x 1.5 litres) or 0.20 euros per litre. At Colruyt this is 0.53 euros per litre.
† Freixenet cava (75cl): 4.80 euros per bottle. At Colruyt that is 6.99 euros per bottle. “With July 21, that will normally be even cheaper,” says Devisch. “So my advice here is to wait a little longer.”
† Toilet paper Renova (3 layers): 80% discount on the second pack of 24 rolls. You therefore only pay 10.79 euros for two packs or 0.22 euros per roll. “That is very little, because with us you normally pay at least 0.25 euros per roll for a white product (3 layers)”, says Devisch.
