Anas Al-Sharif, a 28-year-old journalist from Al Jazeerawas killed on Sunday at what seems to be a targeted Israeli attack according to the director of the Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City. Six others died in the attack, including four more employees of the news channel.
The 28-year-old Al-Sharif was killed when a tent for journalists was hit at the main entrance of the hospital. The correspondent of Al Jazeera often reported from the north of Gaza and was one of the most important journalists of the news channel who was still active in the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli army confirms the death of Al-Sharif on X And claims that he was the head of a “terrorist” cell of Hamas. “A press card is not a shield for terrorism,” says the army.

‘Master campaign’
Al Jazeera recently accused the Israeli army of having a “slander campaign” against his reporters in the Gaza Strip, including Al-Sharif in particular. In July, the Israeli army spokesperson Avichai Adraee shared a video on social media in which Al-Sharif was accused of being a member of the military wing of Hamas-a statement that has been rejected as an incorrect hand.
Israel accuses Palestinian journalists in Gaza to work regularly for Hamas since the start of the war. According to international human rights organizations, that is part of the attempt to discredit their reporting on Israeli abuses.
Since the start of the war, more than 200 journalists and media staff in Gaza have been killed by Israel, including several journalists from Al Jazeera and their relatives.
