The project will focus on the area on Anzegem, Avelgem, Harelbeke, Spiere-Helkijn and Zwevegem. “Due to light pollution and the loss of suitable places of residence, the population of bats decreases sharply,” they say at RLS.
“Bats need suitable places of residence in summer and winter, such as attics or cellars. Tracing, creating or upgrading potential places of residence is therefore a first element of the plan.”
