Due to persistent nuisance from young people, the mayor of the municipality of Drimmelen has established a prohibition of gathering in part of Lage Zwaluwe.
Young people who hang out in groups at primary school De Grienden, Kibeo and Library Theek 5 Library 5 during the carnival holiday are irrevocably dealing with the police or boas.
The police have had their hands full for groups of youth who hang out at the buildings on Nieuwstraat and De Schoof, in the village with just over four thousand inhabitants. The area is plagued by fires, vandalism and theft. The youngsters also leave Rotzooi and intimidate and provoke people in the neighborhood.
“The problem is persistent and has been playing for a long time, despite the use of various measures,” says a spokesperson for the municipality.
Because there is less supervision in the area due to the carnival holiday, the mayor has decided to prohibit a gathering prohibition for three or more young people between the ages of 12 and 20.
Mayor Boy Scholtze calls on residents who are nuisance from the young people to report that to the police or the municipality. With the measure, he hopes to prevent nuisance during the holidays or to immediately suppress it.
The rule starts on Friday afternoon at four and lasts until Monday after the holidays.
